Texas Hold'em poker - Play on the
turn
Once the fourth widow card has been exposed, the same
kinds of considerations apply as after the flop. The
only difference is that now the calculations are much
easier. You know that there is only one card to come
out of the forty-six you cannot see, and only one round
of netting is required to see it. The pot odds are therefore
easy to figure out.
It is now that you must be brutally honest with yourself
about your cards, even if this means sacrificing the
investment you have already made. You must figure out
which cards you need and which cards you fear. A great
deal will also depend on the number of opponents you
face, as well as their behaviour in the previous rounds.
Once the last card has been, everyone’s hand
has been fully determined. If you are confident of the
best hand, your challenge now must be to keep everyone
in and maximise your winnings. If you are sure, bet
high. If you are merely confident, you must decide whether
this chance justifies the bets you have to make or call.
